The broad nature of our work leads to a diverse set of career opportunities — our team focuses on everything from ensuring a safe, warm bed every night for every sanctuary resident to lobbying congressional representatives, from providing round-the-clock medical care to injured farm animals to sharing their stories with thousands of visitors … and so much more. Whether on the shelter, out with the public, or behind the scenes ensuring that the organization runs efficiently and effectively, our team contributes every day to continue our success in protecting farm animals from cruelty, inspiring change in the way society understands oppression and how it relates to the treatment of farm animals, and promoting compassionate vegan living.

Farm Sanctuary's commitment to DE&I in recruiting
All hiring managers are required to participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion training prior to evaluating candidates. This training includes defining different forms of bias (confirmation bias, halo effect bias, implicit bias, etc.) and strategies to minimize bias in the recruiting and interview process. We understand the importance of structured hiring, which is why every candidate is assessed using clear scorecards. We use scorecards to assess each individual, so that everyone is being evaluated based on the same criteria. We require hiring managers to support their scorecards with examples so that they are being as objective as possible in the assessment. We believe this is the most effective way to make data-driven hiring decisions. We are committed to making our process as equitable and inclusive as possible.

Volunteering
At our sanctuaries in Watkins Glen, NY and Acton, CA, we offer a variety of volunteer positions including farm chores, office tasks, community outreach, and visitor program and event assistance.
