CA Shelter Caregiver Assistant

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Barn cleaning and maintaining barn cleaning schedules
• Animal feeding and maintaining animal feeding schedules
• Animal watering and maintaining animal watering schedules
• Shelter cleaning projects
• Assisting with animal health care and health checks
• Animal health care projects as assigned (animal charting, ordering animal supplies, etc.)
• Maintaining animal rehabilitation & treatment areas
• Reporting animal health and/or other shelter problems directly to a caregiver or shelter director

Qualifications:

• Good animal behavior observation skills
• Able to work in all weather conditions
• Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting
• Must be able to follow detailed instructions and maintain animal care schedules as assigned
• Ability to work well with variety of people
• Team player
• Positive attitude
• Very reliable and dependable
• Commitment to Farm Sanctuary's animal care policies
• Commitment to Farm Sanctuary's organizational programs and goals
• One year experience at animal care facility and/or volunteer history at animal advocacy group preferred

Job Specifications:

• Full-time
• Weekends required: Work schedule is generally Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday but possibility of no weekend days off and schedule subject to change.
• Required to work on some holidays
• Salary range $20,000 to $22,000 based on experience and qualifications
