Dairy-Free Campaign

Most dairy cows are forced into a continual cycle of impregnation, birth and lactation. Plagued by disease and stress, these animals, including many of those on "organic" farms, normally live in high-density confinement, not on green pastures, and are slaughtered when their production declines. Farm Sanctuary’s Dairy-Free Campaign is a multi-faceted effort to stop this exploitation and provide the resources needed to find the truth behind dairy production, and tools to help animals, people and the environment.

Take Action!

  • Challenge yourself, your family and your friends to go dairy-free. Visit our Veg for Life site to learn more.

  • Speak out on policy reform to help cows and encourage the use of alternatives!  Take part in legislative efforts that ban the torment of downed cows (who are typically dairy cows), curb the use of hormones such as rBGH, and end the confinement of veal calves (discarded male calves of dairy cows).

  • Talk to your school board and local Parent Teacher Association about the need for dairy free alternatives in the school lunch program; use our ready-made Power Point presentation to help make the case!
