Inglewood, California has become the crown jewel of Los Angeles County. This city is located near Culver City, El Segundo (aka “Silicon Beach”), and the city of Los Angeles. Over the years, it was made famous in songs by Dr. Dre and Nate Dogg, and later by breakout stars like Issa Rae in her cutting-edge HBO series, “Insecure.” Inglewood even hosted Superbowl LVI at the newly erected SoFi Stadium. The sprawling entertainment center seats 70,000 and carries the distinction as a stop on a recent BTS tour. Many of the homes in nearby Ladera Heights and Baldwin Hills rival those in neighborhoods like Hancock Park and Beverly Hills. Despite recent years of gentrification, residents remain culturally diverse and community-minded, and this sensibility reveals itself in the flourishing Black, Latino, and Asian-owned local businesses that adorn Inglewood’s streets.

As the sun sets, sepia tones and delicate pastels paint Inglewood’s skyline. Young professionals dart in and out of skate shops, retail stores like Snoop Dogg’s Clothing, and art collectives like The Creative House. Activists give back to the community through organizations like the Social Justice Learning Institute. Inglewood has edge, vibe, and a charm all its own. However, this quintessential LA neighborhood is eclipsing other areas when it comes to something other than hometown charm, and that’s vegan food.
