We can’t be sure where they came from but as Pekin ducks—a breed commonly raised by humans for food—these vulnerable little birds likely would not have survived in the wild. Thankfully, prison staff found the ducklings by a dumpster, brought them in from the cold, and began the search for their forever home.

We welcomed the ducks to Farm Sanctuary, where Rad and his friends grew up together and became inseparable. Rad has become a popular duck who loves socializing and swimming in the pond. Thanks to your support, he’ll never need a safe place to land again.
