Lisa Turtle

Name

Lisa Turtle

Rescue Date

January 1, 2018

Location

Farm Sanctuary, Los Angeles

Lisa Turtle was sick and starving at a backyard butcher farm, where her painful broken leg was left untreated.

The Cattaraugus County SPCA in New York called us to this same farm where we rescued 100 pigs 15 years earlier. Again, we saw heartbreaking suffering.

Pigs were trapped in filthy sheds and trailers, but our rescuers arrived just in time. At our New York site, Lisa was given the care she needed for her leg to heal—and then came to her forever home: Farm Sanctuary Los Angeles.

This fancy lady enjoys hand-delivered treats from her caregivers! After losing two close friends, Lisa takes comfort in her bond with Morris pig, who snuggles up with her. Lisa moves slowly due to arthritis, but medications keep her happy and comfortable. Lisa loves belly rubs, sunbathing, and lounging in the pig pond.
