Farm Sanctuary Impact Report: Celebrating All We Accomplished Together in 2023

Thank you for making 2023 a year of meaningful progress as we worked together to build the good for animals, people, and the planet!

Just this past week, following two years of lobbying by Farm Sanctuary and aligned organizations, your support resulted in progress for farm animals as the Senate announced its Farm Bill framework. While the House framework includes dangerous EATS Act provisions, the Senate’s version reflects key language from the Farm System Reform Act and the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act. If kept in the Farm Bill, this language will help curb factory farming and protect animals, people, and the planet.

As we celebrate this crucial step, let’s also enjoy all that we accomplished together in 2023.

Here are a few key highlights:

With your help in 2023, we:

  • Rescued almost 50 farm animals in need and provided daily care for over 600 residents at our two sanctuaries
  • Helped develop three federal bills to shift $130B in government funding to a more just, sustainable, plant-based food system
  • Reached 3x more students through our Humane Education programming than in 2022
  • Intervened in the Supreme Court case that upheld California’s Prop 12, a significant advancement for animal welfare
  • Increased sanctuary sustainability by growing some of our hay on-site and growing vegetables for our vegan cafe in Watkins Glen
  • Expanded our enrichment programs for sanctuary residents, promoting their physical and mental well-being
  • Introduced a new children’s tour at both sanctuaries, inspiring the next generation of advocates

Because of your support, we accomplished all this while reducing overall costs.

Each time you support Farm Sanctuary, you are making a difference in the lives of our hundreds of rescued animal residents and strengthening our advocacy for those who still need help.

Thank you for all you do daily to make this world kinder for farm animals.

Please continue to stand with us this year as we forge ahead to end factory farming through our dedicated efforts in rescue, education, and advocacy. Together, we are building an ecosystem that will create a permanent shift in our food system.

With gratitude,

As a nonprofit, Farm Sanctuary relies on the generosity of kindhearted individuals to rescue farm animals and either bring them to our sanctuaries or place them in other loving homes in our Farm Animal Adoption Network. Your support makes this lifesaving work happen.

With your help, we work across the sanctuary movement to home as many animals as possible.

Please give today as we continue to transform lives. Every gift makes a difference.
