WHAT: Farm Sanctuary’s Country Hoe Down is an exciting weekend of expert presentations, healthy food, film screenings, activist workshops, cooking demos, barn dancing, live music, and fun at this non-profit’s bucolic New York Shelter. Guests will learn more about farm animals, plant-based eating and the high cost of our nation’s “cheap” food system; they will also have the chance to get up close and personal with hundreds of rescued animals in a natural sanctuary environment and can even participate in a “boot camp” workout session with Ellen DeGeneres’ health guru, John Pierre. WHY: Farm Sanctuary’s Country Hoe Down is an opportunity to learn simple ways to protect innocent animals from cruelty, while having a lot of fun in the process. Farm animals are the largest population of abused animals on Earth. Billions are subjected to intolerable cruelties by the food animal industry each year, even though research shows these animals are every bit as intelligent and emotional as the dogs and cats we share our lives with. This event will help attendees begin to make new choices and simple changes that can have a big impact on farm animal welfare.
